Don't worry what Windows might call it It usually calls them all Video clips, not necessary trailers etc.

First you need to make sure you have all of the codec's, install the Nimo codec pack, and probably DivX 5.02

    http://nimo.everwicked.com/ http://perso.wanadoo.fr/nimo/

Now you should load the AVI into Vdub, and scan for any junk frames

Video > Scan video stream for errors
If it finds any, they will be listed, all you need to do is save out another copy using streaming, to remove them

    Video > direct stream copy
    Audio > direct stream copy
    SAVE AVI
    movie2.avi

You can now use this second copy in TMPGEnc

However the latest version of Vdub, sometimes gives an error when scanning for junk frames, if this happens you need to use old faithful "vdub-mp3-freeze.exe"

    http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/virtualdub.html

Also download "Vdub AC3" you may need it sometime.

See my other posts for more detail, this version makes a log of bad frames at c:\badframes.log

When you have removed any bad frames, you can move on to TMPGEnc, this should now work without problems

However, there are other problems that can cause TMPGEnc to get upset, loading an AVI into Vdub should report any things like VBR

If the download is .mpg, it could even be a VCD and depending on what version of TMPGEnc you have will dictate whether Nimo is OK for the SVCD codec, or whether you need to install Power DVD 4, to get the correct codec

Start at the top of this, and try things as you do them
