  1. I need some help here.

I've got a Geforce 4 (128mb) with a DV + TV out/in, but when I try to connect my PC to my vcr I get a really bad quality with this here cable i'm using, I've got this one cable coming from my computer which seperates into 2 cables (sorry i don't know the name), one for audio and the other for video i suppose, well those 2 are connected to a cable with the matching parts, which then on the other side has an AV output. And I'm guessing that I'm loosing on quality due to these cables. Is there a certain type of high quality cable I could use to get some better quality from my pc to my TV? Or what can I do to resolve this problem. I don't seem to be getting any sound coming from my computer into my vcr neither.

Thank you very much for your time.

  2. Does your video card have a dedicated RCA jack for the video out? If so, use a high-quality RCA cable to go from this jack to the video-in jack on your TV.

Sound should come from the line out jack on your sound card. Most sound cards have a mini headphone jack for this, and you'd use a cable that has a connector for this jack on one end, and a pair of RCA connectors on the other. Then connect these to the audio-in jacks (left and right) on your TV. Make sure your line-out control is not muted.

Don't use thin cables here, they weaken the signal and pick up RF noise. Get thicker insulated cables.

  3. Thank you very much for the quick response Teddymines.

I don't think my vcr has a rca jack... but I might be wrong considering I wouldn't know what that looks like anyways. It does have 4 jacks in total, 1 TV out, 1 ant in, and 2 AV jacks. But that's just about it.

  4. An RCA jack is round silvery with a colored hole in the middle. Video is usually yellow, right audio is red, and left audio is white. They are the ones that come out of your CD player here you hook to your amp.

If you don't have video-in RCA jacks on your VCR, you can buy an RF modulator that takes your video and audio signals and modulates them to a frequency such as channel 3. Then this goes on the antenna in f-connector and you select channel 3 on your vcr to see the signal.

  5. For sound you have to use your sound card output to the VCR. If you don't have one get a minijack stereo than splits into 2 RCA plug to connect to the VCR sound.

  6. Arn't the white, yellow, and red pins what goes into the AV connection? Which is like this rectangular thing you plug into the av jack of the vcr? That's what I have been using all along.

I went to 2 electronics stores but none of them had a cable with the pin that would fit into my geforce4 on one side and those 3 colored wires on the other side, not directly that is, or anything else that would fit into an av, they said that if i wanted to do that I'd have to use 2 seperate cables and connect those. But I think I'll loose on quality that way, so I'll try see if I can find an RCA module anywhere.

    Thanks again!

  7. If its like my Geforce you need a special vable from the manufacturer to connect. Mine is a plug that separetes into 4 cables. S-Video and RCA for in and out.
