  1. I'm interesting to have an Pioneer A04, but I'm not sure if is the right time to buy , or wait another month or two until the new version is coming out.

When the new model is supose to be out ? Can we figure out the price for the new one ?

Thank you, all your advice will help me a lot

BTW I understand the new A05 should have 4 x speed ? Is that true ? What about the media, can support 4 x speed ?

  3. Hi,

I would buy one when you need one - i got mine from a superb place - SVP in the UK. The price is now down to £199 and the media is 59p. It only writes at 1x but unless you are bunging 4.7gig every half hour or so then I only reckon that 1x is enough (the more expensive media is the 2x plus). I bought mine some months back at £269 so I dont know how much the price will drop but the A04 is a superb drive - it has never let me down.

    Cheers
    Adam

PS. I dont work for SVP or Pioneer; it sjust nice to pass on info when the products and / or service is great. 8)

I know what you mean adamp, and I agree with you, because I have the same opinion.

But let's say if I have a chance to buy with the same money a better drive, why not give a try, right ?

A question remain allways a question. Allways in computer stuff you loose money, you're not a long term investitor, that's for sure.

And if is true what gimp heard about some incompatibility with some OS, like XP, this is really scary. Is it true, or just bad people talk ?

    Thanks

So no sign of news about the new driver yet ?

  7. A friend of mine bought an A04 (the bundle) and it works perfectly in windows XP. The only advice is to use Nero to burn your DVD's. Specially DVD Video. But again, anyone knows when the A05 will hit the market?.

  8. Anyone thinking of buying the pioneer drive should do so wwithout worry, this is an exellent drive and works perfectly well in win xp. I searched the forums for weeks before buying mine....some people said that it has compatability problems with hybrid chipset motherboards (mine is an ASUS A7M266 with a via southbridge and an AMD northbridge) this also is rubbish, I have DMA enabled and run it beside a liteon 40x cdrw and a liteon dvd rom drive all problem free. One point I would like to make and that my drive is a bit fussy with DVD-RW disc's....it doesnt work to well with any princo manufactured brand but works well with verbatim and its perfect with all the DVD-R discs I have tried. I would buy now and not be a guinea pig for any new faster drives, they all will have media issues at first (my liteon 40x cdrw has only a few brands of disc available that work without significant c1 errors and it has been around for months)...I am not saying dont buy any new product but be carefull to buy something you can actually use immediately and not wait for media manufacturers to catch up.........just my opinion!!!

i just got the a04 and I was shocked at how easy it is to make great dvds. all I hear about the others (HP, Sony, etc) are compliancy issues. buy with confidence!

  10. Can somebody tell me what accessories are coming with A04, like software, cables, aso.

I was wondering maybe to buy a 104 , so far I understand they are pretty similar drives, is that right ?

It depends on where you buy the 104. I bought mine from ESBuy.com http://www.esbuy.com/piondvwitsof.html and it came with the same software as the retail box A04, but was $40 cheaper. It also came w/ ATA and audio cable. I love mine so far!
