  2. I have recently purchased a Go Video DVP-750 a couple of weeks ago. I have had only success burning compliant VCD (with both VCDeasy and Nero) and SVCD disks (with only Nero using it's template after re-encoding.) So far the player has refused to play XVCD and XSVCD disks, but I will keep trying to see if I am doing something wrong. The SVCD template in NERO works well to re-encode non-compliant MPEG2 to SVCD. On the player it plays like a charm. I have been using TDK CD-R and Memorex CD-RW for tests. I don't buy the really cheap media to avoid problems. I also have an apex AD-2100, and I must admit that the Apex blows this thing out of the water by playing VCD, SVCD, XVCD, and XSVCD like a charm with added benefits of JPEG and WMA compatibility. To be honest I only bought the player because it is very cheap and has analog 5.1 outputs from a built-in dolby digital and dts decoder. My plan was to have a second 5.1 DVD surround sound system for much cheaper using only this player and a set of Cyber Acoustics 5.1 speakers from circuit city for $60. It works well except that the player chooses to freeze and skips like crazy on certain DVD movies like Mission Impossible 2 and U-571 late in the movie. These movies are brand-new, free of scratches, and play fine on both the Apex and a DVD-ROM. I have not tried any rentals yet. Anyone else experiencing this problem or not let me know so I can tell if I got a bad player. I might consider going to K-mart and getting either their Lasonic or Curtis Mathis DVD player which also have 5.1 analog outputs, but only for Dolby Digital and not DTS.
