Is it possible to burn VCDs on a flat-panel iMac (OS 10.1.5) with a Superdrive without using Toast Titanium? It seems silly to me to have to buy a $100 piece of software just to burn VCDs when I can already burn music CDs, CD-ROMs, DVDs, etc. If I just burn it as a data CD with an MPEG movie on it (i.e., drag-and-drop), will it play in a standalone DVD player, or is there a special "VCD" encoding that lets the DVD player read the file?

cdrdao supports mode2 disk burning, it freeware, but requires a cue/bin.
I have MissingMpegTools to generate the cue/bin, and MissingMediaBurner for the cdrdao burning software. homepage.mac.com/rnc
Jesper at SystemJammers has vcdtoolsX to generate cue/bin and cdrdaoEasy for the cdrdao. www.sbpr.a.se/systemjammers
