Check out my post on how to do this. I know, it is a little work, but that is great pricing for full retail kit.

    Edit:

Here is my text I posted over there just in case...

"I got mine using OfficeMax against Circuit City last week. I ended up getting Circuit City to Price Match 110% and got the drive for $284.99 before tax. I did this in CA. There are some hoops to jump through. Bring the OfficeMax "in-store" flyer/ad ad to Circuit City, and also make sure you have the phone number of an OfficeMax with the drive IN STOCK. This is the key point, because they will not Price Match if the drive is not in stock "locally" to the Circuit City you are at. "

    Edit #2:

Also, for an extra $20 more, you can get the Circuit City protection plan for 2 years. That is cheap, and if the drive craps out after the 1 year HP warranty is up, they will replace it free with an equivilent drive.

A quick update, a poster on the dvdplusrw forum from Denver CO says his OfficeMax does NOT have this deal, so it may not be nationwide. Without the ad, Circuit City will not Price Match as I stated earlier.

Important update, this is from the DVDPlusRW forum:

Quote: from doctor K on 10:41 pm on Aug. 20, 2002 After reading your posts, I walked into an Office Max in Dallas and asked the manager about the $299 price for the hp200i. He didn't know anything about it but agreed to look on his computer system. Sure enough, it pulled up the $150 instant rebate on $449 regular price and he sold me the HP drive for $299. He thanked me and said he would email this to other Dallas area stores. So I would suggest in any city you should ask the manager to look it up and they should see that deal- its looks like a corporate decision and should be nationwide. I also saw CompUSA's ad for a $249 drive but they don't know much about and don't have any yet. I'll stick with HP and hope this pushes down the price for all the different brands. Don't pay more than you have to!
