  1. Can anybody help me?
I'm going to get some VCDs without even ever try it. I got a G4 and a guy with a PC is going to burn them for me. Is this possible? Do I have to request something to this guy (ex. burning options to be read by a Mac)? Do I have to do anything else?
    Will I see something?
    Thanks a lot.

  2. I think a VCD is a VCD is a VCD, if you're really talking about a VCD. That is, the default target for a VCD is a VCD player (or DVD player that can play VCDs) and the software on a Mac or a PC is just basically emulating one of these machines. If it isn't a real, compliant, VCD, then there might be cross-platform issues.

I actually haven't seriously used any of the VCD player software on the Mac, I've just dragged the MPEG file onto the Quicktime player, and that method should work regardless of who burned the VCD and on what.

  3. I have a slight problem with playing VCD's being played on a Apple Macintosh.

I have burned a VCD from a PC using Easy CD Creator 5 Platium (thanks for Morpheus).
It works extremely well on a PC running Windows 9x with I-On Video CD Player and
as well as Windows Media Player. In addition, it works extremely well on a DVD player
that supports the VCD MPEG 1 video codec. Both devices can read and interpret the DAT files
    extremely well.

Unfortunetly the VCDs that I have created on a PC will not function on an Apple Macintosh.
When inserting the VCD into my iMac G3 400 Mhz, a message appears, saying:

"The Disc "VCDxxxxx" cannot be read because it cannot be found"

Does anybody have any information about this error?

    E-Mail Me @ ampm422@home.com

    Thanks,

  4. I have had the same problem. The solution for me was to deactivate the "Joliet Volume Access"-extension from Thomas Tempelmann. This extension seems to conflict with certain VCDs and DVDs. So, if you have this extension installed, remove it and everything works fine.

BTW I'm trying to see in what way I can 'modify' VCDimager in order to add ISO9660/Joliet, ISO9660-level2 and ISO9660/UDF support...
I'll see what results that gives at my standalone DVD-player...

  6. Cool, I'll love to have ISO-Level 2 filesystems with my VCDs...
