    Just a quick Q from you all.

    I know about the DVD compatibility chart and see that mine is compatible. From all that I have read the only format that stand alone players (that are compat) will read is Mpeg 2.

    They will not play Mpeg 1? I didn't read anywhere that they will.

    Not right...
    VCD's are encoded in MPEG-1. So a DVD standalone that plays VCD's plays MPEG-1.
