  1. I still did not got the possibility to control if on Win XP Microsoft leaved the old (never seen one better) mplayer2.exe

in that case i think the usual autorun.ini i use for my VCD should have no problem to work

I had only the possibility to put one of mine VCD autorunning in a cd rom drive of a win xp pc based : this was still booting but the man put inside the VCD
Nothing appened : no media-player was loaded and the man gave me back my cd: incompatible he said.

Does anyone know exactly what is inside XP and if it need a different autorun.ini command line ?

and in the probably case that xp need a completely different lines than win9x how to create a single autorun.ini good for all Microsoft operating systems ?

    thanks in advance

  3. kitty : i'am not sure to have understood everything i read in your link - i will have to double click the _Play.asx file ? but this is not what i mean for autorun : in this way i oblige persons to load manually the file

and what media player will start in this way? the default one ?

are you satified with your sony tvr-900 (how many hours you've run with it?)

  4. The autorun.ini file near the bottom of the page will play the _play.asx file you write - seems to work in media player 6.4 and higher. I believe t does start the default one.

The Sony DCR-TRV900 is an excellent camera I have used many hours. While it has now been discontinued and replaced by a new camera it is still sold and is a benchmark for "prosumer" filmmakers.

  5. VideoPack 5 includes an autorun vcd player. It's better than these autorun.ini tricks that load the video into mediaplayer because it's an actual VCD2.0 player with vcd menu support.

  6. thanks both Kitty and Lusid !

but i must be completely free from platform : my needing is to give a cd that anyone could be able to see dooing...nothing !

i don't know the ability and the computer skill of who will be seeing my vcd: the only thing i want is that they could be able to open cd drive and put cd inside.

then, indipendently from which windows they are running i need to build an autorun.ini that play .dat file

i don't want to put something to install before they could be able to play the VCD because 50% will not be able or got no reasons to loose their times installing something

someone could say to me: but why a VCD ?

because i want also to be compatible with standalone player and (more) if the VCD contains chapter to be compatible with software players (like windvd )

but my primary need is to play the .dat file without any help from user skills: they should be like in front a television : put the cd , see the film

    win95 - win 98 - winme - win2000 - winxp

there a way to do ? how many lines and how written i need for all these systems?
    tks in advance,

    This is possible.
You need to have yourself a VCDplayer, some soft that runs on a pc.
    I think WinOnCD has one.
Use that program (is only 1 exe-file and you don't need to install anything to be able to run it). Then you must create an Autorun.inf file, which you place in the root of the ISO9660 track of the VCD. In that autorun-file you tell it to autoload the vcdplayer executable, which you locate onto the ISO9660 track of your VCD too.

    That should do the thrick...
