  3. Thanks for the link, it is still working.

I finally solved the problem with ATI and the VFW driver support. It doesn't do any good just to download the VFW/WDM drivers from ATI, you also *need* MMC6.x for VFW to work! I spent 3 days trying to get the "so called VFM" driver to work. After installing MMC6.3 Vdub worked just fine, and I can capture at 720x480 without dropping frames. Also, MMC6.3 worked without crashing a single time. MMC7.1 will only do MPEG-1, and if I try Mpeg-2, it will crash the moment I hit the Record button. MMC7.1 is VERY unstable, and should not even be a Beta! If anybody has problems with MMC7.x, remove it and install MMC 6.3, and it will most likely work just fine, and you don't have to spend night after night trying to get MMC7.1 to work!

Will ATI MMC 6.3 work on the AIW Radeon?

I've noticed this too, every time they update 7.0, 7.1, etc. Things get worse and worse...

Maybe I can use 6.3 and get rid of nasty glitches?

    With my luck, probably not...

  6. I just recently got the ATI TV Wonder card. I downloaded and installed MMC 7.1. I have not had any problems so far. I can capture directly to MPEG2 without problems. Maybe there is a problem with the type of card that is supported. I have also heard of others with ATI TV Wonder and MMC 7.1 without problems. Keep us up to date if you discover what caused the problems. I expect that if others are having problems, I may encounter them as well.

  8. I did notice one problem with MMC6.3, which I di not see in MMC7.1, but I don't think there is an easy fix for it. The captured image has a 10 pixel black bar down the right side, and a 5 pixel black bar on the bottom of the picture (in 352x240 mode). Basically, the chip digitizing the video is going a bit outside the legal video area and into the blanking area. This is no problem when playing on a TV screen because of the overscan on most TV's, but playing it on a PC monitor is a bit annoying. Any registy setting for this??

  9. Skitt,
i dont get these black bars when i capp at either vcd or mpg2 sometimes when i encode & use different xvcd templates and tmpgenc, specially with sefy'z templates.

Keep these linkz handy, some reading but worth it.

  10. I might be able to explain the black bar on the right and bottom. I was overclocking the card from 92 MHz to 100 MHz, so that might be the reason for the overscan during digitizing?? I'll give it a try later.

This is the wonderful thing about the ATI software... change 1 or two things, or download a newer version, and all goes to crap.

I suppose I could try to use the old 7.0, but that's buggy as hell too (plus, I'd have to go back to Direct-X 7, not easy to do!)

But back to my question... will 6.3 work on the Radeon Board? Overscan or not, I'd like to know before I ruin my setup trying... thanks!

  12. I thought you needed a min version of DirectX, but a higher version would be OK. I know MMC6.3 needs DirectX 7 or *higher*. I use DirectX-8a, which works fine with MMC6.3.

OK, should be fine there (I know 7.xx is very picky about version)

    broken record here, but...

Does it work with the Radeon board?...

  14. I belive that the video capture is the same on most of the ATI All in Wonder cards, only two different chips are used, both supported by MMC.

OK, I'll "roll the dice", and see if it's less buggy (fewer "hiccups&quot!

    Thanks
