Can't capture AVI in anything other than ATI's MMC

Have found that I am unable to use the capture drivers for AVI in anything other than the MMC 7.5/6 I have for the AIW 7500. Have tried Video Capturix, Video Studio 6, Virtual Dub, etc. All say they can't find the AMC peripheral. I checked my drivers section and all the correct codecs and capture drivers are there. I don't really want to uninstall a lot of the stuff since I can cap in Mpeg or AVI through the MMC. I just want some choice in which programs I use...

I think you need the WDM wrapper. Unfortunately I cannot remember where to find it.

Yeah, I have it installed. It's in the pull-down for all those programs but just won't work. I had that problem with my ATI All In Wonder 128 as well. The WDM for VFW wrapper just wouldn't work at all. I just have to hope the authors of these programs get on the ball and make them to work with WDM...

Yeah that's the problem with ATI. When I bought my TV wonder the picture would only work as long as the computer remained on the time I installed the drivers. The minute you reboot, had to reinstall the drivers. Keep in mind I bought this card a good year after it came out. Spent some time with tech support on the phone, eventually he goes "yeah we know about that, if you want to keep the card you need to reinstall the drivers each time."

The generic "btwdmdrvinstaller5.3.2" drivers work good for the TV wonder and let you capture with Virtuadub, however, I do not know if they will work with an All in Wonder, and how they will affect the regular graphics card/acceleration of the card. You may wanna give it a shot, you can always uninstall and go back to the regular drivers. A word of warning, I've heard that MMC won't work with these drivers I say no big loss, but be prepared. I have some problems similar about you describe.
When I install the ATI Card mi first problem was when reinitialize windows. It marks a problem of protection an don't initialize, I have to reinice in protected mode and then reinitialize again. Then Windows initialize again well. And some ATI drivers mark that don't work.
After reinstall several times windows, one of my audio drivers, mark it works with winMe, but really I have to install the driver that is designed for win2000, and so the problem was resolve.
Another problem was my Office programs freeze continually, so searching I find that the program Hidravision that comes with ATI software cause that problem.
Too I had a SDram133 memory, when I change to a DDR the sistem become very, very stable.
