I currently have been using TMPGEnc to encode my video files in to a valid dvd format... I create the file using the dvd profile and when its done i have tried several premastering software... sprue, reel and a few others... but they all have the same problem which is that the audio skips every few seconds. the video looks great.. only audio problems... i have tried everything i can think to try.. so now im here.... HELP... i have downloaded video samples from various sources that were in ifo/vob format and they all work fine....so i assume its somethign to do with my encoding settigns..i am to the point if some one can give me a procedure that works fine i will try it...as a side note this only happens on a stand alone dvd player not on a pc...

Have you tried this on more than one stand-alone player? I have had very similar experiences using cheap DVD players. Some will refuse to play burned DVDs at all, some jerk the video or mangle audio. It might be that your player can't keep up with the combined bit rates of both audio and video. I have to assume it will err on the side of the visual.
You might try lowering the bit rate of the video a tad. I believe the default for the NTSC-DVD template is 7000CBR. I haven't noticed much visual difference between 7000CBR and 4000VBR 2-pass. -
As i said in my previous message i have downloaded dvd samples and they play fine on my machine. I have also tried it on several dvd players and tehy all have the same results..so i dont see any way i coudl be the dvd player not liking the burn when premade samples work and dvd backups i have made wotrk fine...
