I have an RCA stand alone dvd player that also plays vcds and i've always used Roxio to burn them but sometimes that would give me trouble so i wanted to try out Nero. I downloaded the demo version of Nero to try it out and i like it. It's fast and it's easy.

Now i've used Roxio before and when i put the vcd in my player it would read the disc and play right away. The only problem i had was the out of sync problem which i found from the info on this site that i needed to use virtual dub to extract the audio first. So i did that and i also used Temgenc to encode the avi files to mpg.

Ok so i used Nero to burn the vcd using cd-r media and put it in my dvd player and it took a while for my dvd player to read the media. Sometimes it would read it after about 3-5 minutes and other times it would say 'disc is not compatible'. This was odd since it would often play the same disc. I guess what i'm trying to say is that my player sometimes has problems reading the disc. What would be the problem here? Would it be the way the disc was encoded or could it be the player itself?

Sorry this was so long but i didn't want to miss any details.
