I can't seem to get the AverTV to capture audio correctly when I use the composite video connection. With the coax connection, the sound is fine, but I'd like the slightly better quality of the composite video. I went out and bought a audio cable with rca connectors on the end for the VCR, and a 1/8" stereo connector to connect to the audio in jack on the back of the card. But when I try to capture using composite video, no sound. Just some kind of humm in the background if I turn my speakers way up.

I'm a newbie at this, and unfortunately the documentation for the card is lacking. I don't know if I'm screwing something up, or the card just happens to be defective.

Ideas, anyone? If I can't get this fixed in the next couple of days, I'll have to take it back to FRY's before my 30 days runs out!

Check and make sure line in is enabled in your audio cards recording properties.
Also, the audio jack from the VCR should be connected to your audio cards line in.

  3. BrainStorm69,

Have a look in your 'Windows Volume Control' the default value for the line in is set to 'mute' you might just need to uncheck that value and Bob's your Auntie (can't say Bob's your Uncle, in this PC world it would not the the thing to do...)

    Good luck

Used to have one of those and had some similar issues. But I was using VirtualDub to capture.

If the above solutions don't help and if you are using VirtualDub, you have to go into Audio Source in VDub and change it to Composite. Also, you may have something else grabbing your audio and locking it before your video capture card. I had that happen a few times and had to reboot to each time to correct it.

Also, you didn't say where you were getting your audio from. You might check the settings on that device as well to make sure you are actually getting an audio signal. Sometimes if you're running it out of your VCR, it won't send anything out on the composite connections if your input to the VCR is coax, unless you specify it.

You may also want to check your settings and connections if your using your receiver or cable box as the source...Hope this helps...
