  1. Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas of the cheapest, but with all the features needed (SVCD/VCD), DVD players. If anyone could list a few it would be greatly appreciated.

  2. If you could state your maximum price (that you want to pay), that would help.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  5. The Apex 1100W is indeed a fine player, but make sure you get the 1MB model, not the 512k model. I say this, because the 1MB model allows this:

  6. More info on the 1MB vs 512k thing, specifically how to tell them apart in the store before you buy:

It is indeed a fine player if you can get one manufactured before April this year. It appears that Apex don't want to pay the license fee to Philips to enable VCD playback, so units manufactured after April don't play VCD. Don't believe me? Go to the Apex website and ask them if any of their players will support VCD. 8)

  9. I have the 512k and its reported to be more reliable than the 1mb unit. As of now, the 512k can be region-free, but the 1mb can be region-free and macrovision free. Be warned though, there have been reports that the 1mb unit doesnt play svcd correctly. My 512k plays them fine.
