I've been wanting to make a skate video for a while and my mom said she'd buy me a DV camera for X-mas , but that's all i get, on the oter hand i could buy a dazzle II and use the VHS-C camera i already have.

Buy a DV camcorder with analogue to digital passthrough and a firewire card (only £20). That way you get the best of both worlds. You get the quality of DV plus you can use it to capture from analogue sources, such as VHS video tape or TV broadcasts.
