  1. Ok

I recorded a show with my capture card, in 640 x 460 mpeg 2. I converted it to .avi, and put it in virtualdub, so i can cut out the commericals. Now, everything goes fine, and virtualdub displays the video without commercials when im done editing. But once I save as avi. for some reason some of the commercial is left in 1 or 2 of the spots that had a commercial in it before.

Why is it putting back some of the edited out commercials when i edit them out, when i save as avi?

    Thanks to anyone who helps

VirtualDub can only make an accurate cut on a keyframe. Try reducing the max keyframe interval in the configuration dialogue for whatever codec you are using when converting to avi. You might have to play around with this to find a setting that works best for you. Also this setting depends on which broadcast standard your using (PAL or NTSC).

Setting at 10 keyframes is good.

However when you cut in Vdub, don't cut at delta frames, move to the location you want to cut, but hit the yellow keyframe icon once to jump to a keyframe, then mark this.
Start click back once then mark.
End click forward once then mark.

You can also use TMPGEnc to cut out parts you don't want, when using .mpg. With mpeg 2, you may need to install a codec, PowerDVD 4 provides a suitable codec for Mpeg 2 for use with TMPGEnc Plus 2.57, older versions of TMPGEnc and freeware may not need that codec
