  1. I've just bought the Dazzle DVCII, after trying various other cards and software. I intend to transfer VHS Pal to VCD, has anybody got any tips, which will save heartache and coasters?
    Thanks in advance.

  2. Ahh, I hope to get a DVCII soon. I have a Hauppauge WinTV Go right now, but can't do too much with it.

    Congratulations !
I am now very happy with my DVC II,
The only thing I found I needed was a patch to allow capturing past 71 minutes. The other thing is a capture replacement.
You can get both from here.

If you can't get the stuff from here mail me.

  4. Actually, I have a lot of problems using the capture program from http://www.ttool.de. It stops early for no reason on occasion and I can't edit it's output very well.

I personally find that for hi-res capturing to MPeg2, capturing with MovieStar and then editing with MPeg2VCR (unfortunately, not freeware) gives me the best experience - MovieStar is really crappy for editing - half the time I can't get it to edit.

Hmm, moviestar ... editing... moviestar... editing
I don't think those two words belong in the same sentence

I found the alternate capture software seems to drop when CPU goes over 90%
I'm not sure why Moviestar doesn't have the same problem.

    Try this http://www.hauppauge.de/nanodvr.htm

And capture direct to VCD.mpg I use it instead of WinTV2000

  8. If any UK buyers are thinking of one, the cheapest I found was ebuyer.com @ £169. There's a 10 day wait, and the customer services are crap. Next cheapest I found was Tiny online @£250.
