    Thanks

  2. The latest one, currently 2.57
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. version 12a.....it's free...no 30 day trial....and mpeg2 conversion is as good as the version you have to pay for.

  4. where can we get 12a?

  5. don't be daft, there is no way V12a is as good as the latest V2.57 plus
theres no where near as many features and it's not half as stable

depends whether you want free an not as good or are willing to pay for a superb bit of software

  6. 12a is very good, but about 25% slower than the latest versions. MPEG2 quality is similar (much better than, say, 2.50) and you don't have the 30 day restriction. However it isn't as stable and you can't use Kwag's templates with it. I have a copy of 2.56 plus and am not that impressed with it, thought that MPEG 2 sources looked better in 2.54! Haven't tried 2.57 yet, must download it this weekend.

Get the Japanese version of 12a from here ... http://sun.sj.net.cn:8080/souxin/software/Soft/mpg/TMPGEnc-0.11.20.98-rel1.zip

and the English patch ... http://sun.sj.net.cn:8080/souxin/software/Soft/mpg/tmpg_en0918.exe

and the VFP plugin ... http://sun.sj.net.cn:8080/souxin/software/Soft/mpg/TMPGEnc-0.11.20.98-vfp-rel1.zip

  7. what do u guys think of 2.54? pretty good?

  8. I think 2.54 is best. It's stable and fast enough and the only one that doesn't seem to need you to rip the audio from the movie first.

  9. you're always best to rip the audio first
it's the only way to lose the metallic sound on 48khz divx's
tmpegenc cannot convert the audio properly resulting in a metallic sound
use vdub to extract the wav then dvd2avi to process it
    perfect audio everytime

I am pretty happy with v257 Plus. The new Vfapi module that relieves you from the DirectShow MS filter, is a good improvement
