A bin is simply the CD Image file for the (X)(S)VCD. it does not matter wether or not you create a CD Image and Burn or just direct burn. The reason for the How To is because some programs do not offer all the authoring tools that other programs do...

    Example:

I have a movie that I wanna author to have Chapters/Entrypoints special PBC (Playback Control) options and I created a personalized Menu. Well I know that I can Use VCDEasy to Author the Disc but when I go to burn it I get an error because my CD-RW drive isn't 100% compatible with CDRDAO (CDRDAO is what VCDEasy uses to burn CD's) so I wanna use NERO to burn. Well when VCDEasy gets done I have 3 files (Videocd.Bin,Videocd.Cue,Videocd.Xml)... So I have a CD Image now I can Burn the image and everything works great!... Although Nero can make VCD's it doesn't offer the authoring tools such as entrypoints...

    Hope this helps!

  4. Have you read through the relevant "How To" guides over there on the left?

My burner isnt supported in vcdeasy so I just use it to make a bin/cue that I can load into fireburner and burn with.

in vcdeasy you just select whatever video format you've already created - if you used tmpgenc to create the mpeg then you should know what to select.

Once you have vcdeasy up and running click the svcd tab on the left and select either vcd or svcd at the videocd type.
then select add files at the bottom and find your mpeg file you want to create a bin/cue with

click the settings tab and select bin/cue.

click the svcd tab again and click "go" at the bottom.

this will create a bin/cue file thats super easy to burn. Just hunt around for fireburner or cdrwin. If you get fireburner all you have to do is click on the cue sheet that will be created and it will start the burning program automatically. If you get cdrwin, you just click on the top left hand button and select "load cue sheet" from the menu that appears. It will then load the bin file and prepare you for recording.

You can also burn a bin with nero by selecting "burn image" from the drop down file menu.

Your getting a little off topic here and im not really sure I understand your last question. If you already have a bin and a cue file, follow my instructions above to burn it with cdrwin or fireburner. If you have a svcd compliant mpeg2, then just load it in vcdeasy and it will create a bin/cue file for you. If you have a vcd complaint mpeg do the same and select vcd in vcdeasy.

are these files that your getting from your friends divx, mpeg...? if so, do you want to be able to play them on a dvd player or just burn them to disk to have an archive copy?
you need to be a bit more specific so we can help you.

  11. FILE "TCF-STA.BIN" BINARY
    TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
    TRACK 02 MODE2/2352
    INDEX 00 00:04:00
    INDEX 01 00:06:00

thats what the cue file says. i cant convert it to mpg in vcd gear because it gives me this error: cannot find stream in the cue. or cannot load mpeg stream.

what should i do? if i burn it as a bin, will it even play if there is no mpeg stream?

Im assuming that what you have is a movie and since you already have a bin and a cue all you need to do now is go ahead and burn the image, no conversion should be necessary. To burn a bin/cue combination it is best to get a burning program that deals well with these and those would be either CDrwin or fireburner. Google search for them or however you want and install one or both.

on CDrwin you click the top left hand picture button and select "load cuesheet" on the page that appears. Cdrwin will take load the bin file automatically and all you have to do is click "start recording" and it will burn the cd.

To burn with fireburner you select file - load tracks from cuesheet.
This is where you click on the cue file, and fireburner will load the bin file for you.
After you load the cue sheet you select "create cd" and at the following menu select "yes" or something to that effect. (im doing this from memory so it may be a bit different)

    Hope this helps.
