  1. what is the average birate u guys convert at for a svcd in pal mode? for normal/average quality that is, the kind u guys would use, or in other word how much of a movie would u fit on a 80 min cd-r? 40 mins?

    I determin the bitrate according to the length of the movie and how many CDs oer movie I want to have.

  3. yeah what is the usually birate u come out with, when u want a normal looking vcd, not ugly and better than watchable as in good quality, like is it 2000, 1800, 1600 or what

  4. I use different bitrates (multipass vbr) for different sourse aspect ratios. In all cases I have min bitrate=600, max = 2500.

    For a full screen 4:3 sources - something about 2000.
    for widescreen 16:9 ~1500
    for extra wide screen 2.35:1 - ~1000-1200.

    In all cases I'm getting excellent picture for DVD rips. For Divx->svcd conversion the quality depends on sourse quality mostly.

    With audio bitrates 192 or 160 I'm getting up to 90 minutes of extra wide screen movie with an excellent quality per 80 min CD.

    Forgot to mention that I convert to NTSCFilm format. But the bitrate values for PAL should be almost the the same.
