    Hi,

I read the the vcd help for converting and this was one of the steps

    1. Be sure to install both DivX 3.11, DivX 4 and latest DivX 5. You may need to install the Nimo Codec Pack also.

However, I tried to install the Divx 3.11 with winXP and it says that it might crash the OS.

How would it be fixed? Please and thank you very much.

    might crash the OS.
Probably Microsoft not wanting you to use it, Vdub says the same if you try to use a DivX Codec.. We Ignore the warnings.

Did it crash the OS ?

ok thanks for all you help. No I did not install the program. I was hoping that there would be a different program that I could install instead that does come up with the warning.

and yes 3.11 gave an error any time you start
the Windows Media Player but you can acept and continue.
the error its ERROR in DIVX_c32.ax file
you can replace this file using the DIVX 3.11 Alpha
    DIVX_c32.ax version 4.1.0.3917
click in the file with right - choice Properties- Version -

this file work fine in XP - No Errors- No warnings

Thank you very much for all of your everyone. I really appreciate it. I checked the DIVX_c32.ax file and I have version 4.1.0.3917. No problem, your English is a lot better then my Spanish. I tried to install Nimo, however, it did not install the DivX 3.11, DivX 4. This pc was just upgraded to winXP not too long ago. Before it had win98 and I was able to install those codes no problem and it worked great. It is just that I am very new with winXP and I really do not want to cause any problems with it. Does those codes work with winXP without causing problems like it warns about? Please and thank you.

If you install the Nimo codec pack, it has everything you need. You wont need to install others (Except DivX 5) from www.divx.com

XP is not the best OS for this work, and many people have problems, but these codec's should work with XP
