Na, you wont copy a DVD from blockbusters they are full of scratches, you need to copy.....
You cannot copy a DVD to DVD (Well not yet) you need to use a DVD ripping program to copy the contents to your hard drive. Then from there you need to convert the VOB files before you can finally make a new copy of the DVD.
< take a look here, its called DVD RIP (no that's not rest in peace)
or click this link > http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdripping.htm -
KingJohn is right, you can't just pop discs in and hit 'go' at the moment.
This site is probably the best for guides on ripping and converting.
If you want the movie on a dvd disc for standalone usage (coz your player wont play vcds) or you just want to use dvds and not bother with vcds then you will need to have a look at some of the forums and guides to get some info.
http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdripping.htm DVD to DVD ripping methods - as mentioned by KingJohn is a good place to start. Also check out http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow/#Faq and have a look around that site. Good info.
It would appear DVDs less than 4.3 Gig are easier to replicate than those larger than 4.3 gig. The only prob is that there aren't that many of them.
Best advice would be to have a good look around and read everything, then do it again. Its repetitive sure, but you do learn alot. -
Most commercial DVD's will exceed the 4gig on a DVD-r, but software like Speedripper will allow you to copy one part of a DVD.
For example, if a DVD has both a 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio setting, it actually has TWO movies recorded onto it. You can simply copy one title set, ignore the rest of the junk (i.e. trailers, etc.). Speed ripper will allow you to export the VOB files as elementary streams (audio and video). You can then import these into a DVD authoring program, make your own menu..... voila!
