hows it goin, i finally got the audio to exrtract properly, and now ive converted my avi file to mpg. Thats fine, but now when i try to make a bin so i can burn it to vcd, the program im using (GNU VCDImager) gives me this error
7,376,487 > 449,850
there is some text before that but i forget. Basicly i can understand that its telling me that the file is too big to work with. is that right? the mpg is huge, 1.54 gigs. How can i break this apart now? I was looking at the editing programs and those are all for editing avi files before you convert, not mpg.
Please help and sory for the long post.

why do want to make a bin? if its already an mpg then just cut it and burn it! AVI2MPEG2 is a great cutter.

You can use BBMPeg to split the file and it will make two MPGs for you to convert and burn. You can donwload it from this site and alos see the guides here that tell you how to split an MPG.

oh shit, really? i dont need to make abin file? i though thats the only way i can watch it on my dvd player. Cause thats what i want to be able to do with it.
Can i use that program that u mentioned to make chapters or anything, or will it just be able to cut it up.
Thanks -
not sure if it can do chapters or not. if you burn with vcdeasy(which can do chapters) it makes its own bin then writes from the image file

but i cant make the bin file in the first place, cause its too big.
but can my dvd player play an mpg file if i burn that straight to a cd? -
Yea, you're dvd player can play the MPEG if you burn it straight to a cd. This is of course assuming that the file is VCD compliant, and what your player supports, etc, etc. Just use Nero to make a VCD, I prefer VCDEasy. Split the file with the programs listed above and burn it to a cd, easy as that. later

Can someone tell me why your not using TMPGEnc Merge/cut to split the mpegs ?, it does seam like its used for the conversion, then people are downloading all sorts of things if its too big

Says who ?. It works very well "With no problem mpegs" its only when people download faulty mpegs or capture with frame loss that it might give problems, jut like any other mpeg editor.

Saying "cause TMPGEnc is a poor cutter, especially on svsd's." suggests that the program is no use to anyone.
