  1. I bought a new computer a few weeks ago (WinXP Home, P4 2.4 GHz, 1GB DDR, ATI AIW Radeon 8500DV), and I haven't been able to get VirtualDub to work properly. I never had these problems on my old computer (Win98SE, P3 500MHz, 128MB SDRam).

I'm using VirtualDub 1.4.10 and trying to convert MPEG to Divx 5.0.2 video and MP3 audio. But it keeps freezing at video frame 9995. I've tried different video files, different video codecs and different audio codecs, and the problem seems to be isolated to the MP3 codec. I've tried different MP3 codecs & settings, and still no luck.

I've read that a couple other people have had the same problem, but I haven't seen any fix. It seems to happen to WinXP users.

Does anyone know of a work-around or patch? I'd really appreciate any input or help. Thanks.

  2. I have the same problem
I haven't been able to find a way around it. I have tried other version of VritualDub like "NanDub" with no luck. I have started using "Vidomi" instead of "VirutalDub". It works ok but I doesn't have as many feature as "VirtualDub".

  3. Hey I'm having this problem too. It's something to do with the mp3 format. If I do no compression it works fine.

EDIT: Btw I'm also using WinXP, 1700XP, 8500DV, 512 megs ram, Abit KR7A-R.

  4. Finally got back to looking at this problem.

In my case I fixed the problem by disabling the Audio Codec "ctmp3.acm" by Creative. I would recommend you go through whatever MP3 Codec you have installed and disable them one at a time until you get a combination that works
