i am doing the same thing you are...i have about 600 photos that i am doing in photoshop.
i do all my editing and fixing of the photographs in photoshop. once i have the images exactly the way i want them i import into premiere and create avi files with special fade in and out.
this is the best way to do it that i know of

ok what size do u make ur image sizes in photoshop..in pixels?
cause if i make a 800x6000 pixel image of text in premiere and inport to a 800x600 project in premiere my image gets a lil degraded does that happen to you? -
i make sure the images are 720x480 so i can make them full screen on my 4:3 tv. then i export to avi and then excode to mpg using the DVD (NTSC) template on tmpgenc.

KeithDVD--can you help? I have edited and expoeted some video back to my dv tape-i am going to make my dad a vhs of the tape of Normandy for him to watch and keep. How do I export about ten stills from photoshop and add them to the end of my video? how do I "make them show one by one? this would be a great thing to add, but I am clueless
thanks mikegee -
the photoshop stills should import easily into premiere just right click on the bin folder and select import then choose the photoshop file.
Once you have the photoshop stills loaded in the bin just drag them onto the timeline where you want and set the length of the stills and any fx you want.
Then export to tape.
Let me know exactly which step is giving you trouble?? -
you seem to be the right person who can solve my problem...
i have a collection of postcards i scanned and would want to be shown as VCD or DVD complete with transitions and background music. i scanned the images in high resolution with pixel size set to 959 x 712 saved as jpg
i was able to import the images into adobe premiere and drag them on the timeline (640 x 480 setting). my question is: how come after exporting the file as .avi and then encoded it for mpg using TEMPGenc the final output is so not so good for viewing. seems like the images lost so much resolution and the colors are not that vibrant. where have i gone wrong?
many thanks if you can give me some idea on how to deal with this.

KeithDVD:
thanks-that much i can get. The problem is my dad has no computer or dvd. if i export to my camera will these stills show up correctly when i record vhs off the camera? I want to have the dv on tape for him and i guess my problem is i don't know how the stills work on vhs. just the same as vcd?
thanks

mikegee:
It shouldn't matter if its on vcd or vhs wil still play fine in the vcr. Just export the timeline to tape and it should record into the camcorder or vcr.
leejan:
after you select export timeline...click settings
make sure you use Microsoft AVI in general and use no compression or if you have to use compression i recommend the huffyuv codec.
hope that helps

i used the chroma in premiere and the resolution came out really shitty..
my question is now what is the best render thing to use in the premiere settings?
and what codec is good to use..
there is a selection in what codec you can use in premiere anyone know the differences and what is the best? -
keith:
thanks for the reply. i'll try to do it now and give you feedback on what happened. for now, what does interlace mean? and what effect does it have on the final movie?

interlace is what is shown on the tv if you look close you can see the scan lines
interlace definition from my glossary:
A video image is created by scanning a series of horizontal lines with an electron beam, beginning at the top left of the panel. An interlaced picture consists of two distinct fields, created by writing all odd, and then all even lines on the screen, each every 60th of a second. This interlaced effect creates a full frame of video every 30th of a second.
i usually use interlace when i am going to be playing the video on the tv.
...
i never really tried out the chroma or a need to
i thought that the chroma was for mixing videos???
not sure which one is the best codec. i did try the cinepak codec and it said 15min for a 8sec clip... try using a short clip and playing with the different codec settings.

Keith:
I followed what you have so far told me to do so... luckily i was able to make my first it work on my computer... altho the mpegs are a little bit dull. now my problem is after burning the CD and played it on a standalone VCD player, nothing came out except the audio. would you know the reason for it?
thanks in advance for the help...
