  1. I'm converting a DVD to MPG using DVDx. In the Export Settings I have the resolution set to 352 x 288. When the movie is encoded and I play it back at full screen it is about 1 1/2" to 2" smaller than the original DVD.

    So, my question is, Is there a better setting for the resolution or any other setting in DVDx that would make the movie bigger and better quality? The DVD is widescreen and the aspect ratio is 2.35:1, if that helps at all. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. In the output settings look at the "zoom" setting. You can make the picture bigger using this. For better quality in the input settings make sure you choose "FPU" for the iDCT setting. In the output setting you must choose choose these settings;
    motion search;slow
    calculation;MMX
    DCT/iDCT;FPU
    rezize;bilinear MMX
    DVDx actuallyworks better as a frame server to TMPG than as a standalone encoder. If you choose to use it as a frameserver in the export setting (under output settings) choose RGB32 in the export window.
    Good luck.

  3. Thanks a lot for your help. That totally fixed the video size and quality problem. This leaves me with another question or so, however...

    First, for the audio/video bitrates, what would you say would give the best quality? Then for the Audio Track, I have it on AC3 2ch, is this the best option, or should I use AC3 6ch?

    And lastly, what is the best format for video, avi or mpeg? I've heard that using mpeg produces better quality for playback, but unfortunately I don't have enough experience with either to know for sure...

    Anyway, thanks again for your help.
