I have a little problem,I can't get the end product to come out(at all). Here is what i've got.i have a e monster 500pc,running win98,i down loaded the guide and all the files and put them in the same folder.i riped the movie(1hr58min)took 37 mins,dvd2avi 1.76 took 26 mins, fired up tmpgenc 12e and put in video sourse the d2v, audio AC3,loaded SVCD (NTSC)mfc and hit start(by the way this is a MPEG 1,I have tried MPEG 2 and got the same resultson 2 different movies).9 and a half later a nice new MPG file.Went to TMPGnc Tools cut,Now this is where i get a lost, added file gave it a name double click on it and hit play then pause and "{" for start, draged the bar over enough to get about 30 mins worth(so it would fit on cd)and hit"}" to end. Then hit run and after it was done I fired up nero 5.0 went new video cd found the file draged it over and it fit on the scale at the bottom.hit burn (at 4X) it had no problems at all.I took the cd out stuck it in the dvd playrd om the comp.and it would lock up mediamatics, put it in the standalone(apex 660 8am)and it ouldn't do a thing, swaped to a apex800 and it said invalid state error 0000080.I did 2 different movies in both mpeg1 and 2 and got the same results.I then down loaded a sample off of this site burned it to a cd and it worked perfect on pc and both standalones.also i used different cdr types.compusa cdr's, tdk cdr's and tdk cdrw. Thanks for the help after all of this, i need it.PS,I am using Sefy guide, its vrey good just need a little more info on cutting and the run part.

I think the problem you are experiencing is caused by Nero 5.0 - I would advise you to upgrade to 5.5(3.5) from their website. As I recall in 5.0 there isn't a SVCD mode you can choose from. As you are making SVCD's (mpeg2) you'll need this.

aldus4,sorry it took me so long to get back here.after i posted my cooling fan went out on the pc,and of course it was sunday and i couldn't fine one to fit,it is a resesded type.i did figure out my problem, i was using the wrong guide.i down loaded the right one and eveything is great, well almost.i burned part of the mpg and it came out good but about every 10 sec or so about a third of the screen will block out.i ran a test first and it did fine(on a cdrw just about a min or so)I did change the aspect ratio to 16:9 on the encoding and i think that is the problem see what ya'll think.i'll check in in a bit.thanks alot for the help. Wasn't your type of weekend was it? LOL
Anyhow try and see if your aspect ratio is better now. And then we'll carry on (if necessary) with other fault findings.
