Does anyone notice a performance change when switching between CDR brands. I have this generic type...but sometime the sync gets screw up on it when I use it in the burner.
Does Media grade make a difference?

Don't get the cheap ones made in Taiwan, they suck. Go for the Tayio Yudens made in Japan.

I just got a 700MB/80Min Memorex 50 pack for $4.99 at BestBuy
They were mail in reabtes. Thats the only problem...... -
About 85% of all CD-R discs are produced in Taiwan and the Taiwanese companies have a lot of factories in all continents.
MOST of them are reliable enough for most applications considering it's basically a CD-R for end users.
The difference is mostly clear when exposed to serious and extensive abuse of the recorded disc side. I have thousands of CD-R discs made by Ritek, Princo, CMC, or Prodisc. But then I always buy either Taiyo Yuden or Mitsui discs made in Japan if the price is reasonable enough. -
I use Generic & PNY & also Imation CD-R's & Guess what? They all work the same!! I find no difference & if the Generic did not work, they would not sell very well would they.

I have a Dell PC and it has never broken down... thus, Dell PCs are awesome and NEVER break down!!
Generic blanks have their problems. It will obviously depend on the batch. It is fair to say at least that you cannot be sure of the quality of the discs between batches as they may haved changed their supplier.
Similarly, many so called "brand-name" blanks fall into the same category as generic as they outsource their production as well (e.g., Sony, Imation, Philips, etc.)
If you want to be sure of the quality of your blanks, then I suggest that you buy a brand that actually still create their own discs... e.g., Kodak Ultimas and Verbatim DataLife Plus (I'm sure there are others but they are probably not as available worldwide).
That is not to say that generic discs are "crap". I'm sure that most work fine, but I've had the occasional batch go bad on me as I'm sure many members here can attest.
