  1. I am new to the forum here. I did a search for this but couldnt determine anything.

    Ok here goes.
My roommate has a Phillips Magnavox 825 dvd player. It will play most dvd's fine without a problem usually. Its when we try to play a VCD in it some of them play back in black and white, but play fine in the cd-rom drive. It doesnt happen on all VCD's, just some.

I am using a 1gig Duron with 384 megs, with a liteon burner. The VCD's are also made on a 200 megs with a 8 x burner and the same problem occurs( it doenst matter which drive they are burnt out). What Im trying to get at here, is why do the VCD's play back in black and white. I know that might be a simple solution to this problem, my background is in burning cd's and I am relatively new to video cd's.

Any answer that might be able to steer me in the right direction will be helpful and appreciated.

I'm having the same problems with my Phillips 825 and I think the problem is...I'm trying to play a PAL VCD on my NTSC DVD player.

I'm trying to find out what I can do to fix the problem. Although I'm not getting my hopes up because I'm a mac user and it's a PC world for VCDs.

I believe that you can use TMPGEnc to reconvert it (man I wish someone would port that program over to OSX!!!).
