im reffering to the actual protection software and keys that are on a dvd, not the legal aspects of ripping. I skimmed through that faq about dvd protection and didnt see anything in there about this. If so, is there any way to find out if my dvds have this so i can avoid wasting my time ripping something thats not going to come out right?
thanks in advance

I am not sure, what you mean. But every DVD, that is playable with a software dvd player is ripable as well.http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdripping.htm
