Hello,
I upgraded to ATI MMC 7.7 (after upgrading to the latest AIW video drivers and latest WDM capture drivers) and my Record button doesn't do a thing anymore. When you click it, it turns red but does not start recording.
I went back to MMC 7.6 and it works fine, but I'd much rather use 7.7 since it can record 48KHz.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

It seems that the PAL version of MMC 7.7 has a lot of problems on some systems (missing capture / svcd). I'd stick with 7.6 for now until ATI releases an update.

I am having the same problem. It will not record whether I schedule it or try manually. 7.6 works fine.
I removed 7.7 and reinstalled 7.6 -
i had the same problem. it will record, but ONLY if you let it save to the default filename and location it chooses during setup. it's a real pain, but it can't be that hard for them to fix, right?....

Apparently, this is not a PAL problem, but an installation problem with Radeon VIVO (the atimpenc.dll file is missing, or a leftover from 7.6).
Copy the file atidvcr.dll from the 7.7 install folder, put it in "program files\ati multimedia\main", rename it to "atimpenc.dll" (atidvcr is the AIW version of atimpenc, but it works fine with the VIVO).
You may have to register the dll using:
"c:\windows\system\regsvr32 c:\program files\ati multimedia\main\atimpenc.dll" if it still doesn't work. -
I tried it - no help. I have installed and reinstalled ATI drivers and MMC including the WDM capture driver a bundle of times. Still the same result. When MMC 7.6 is installed everything works fine. I tried in regualr mode as well as installing in safe mode
After upgrading to 7.7 recording does not work anymore. When you click it, it turns red but does not start recording.
I contacted ATI but received no useful help there either.
Seems to work for quite a few. Wondering what is missing in my installation. I'm using AIW Radeon and winXP

I have no button for recording at all! And no digital vcr tab when I hit settings.

If your atidvcr.dll and atimpenc.dll are version numbers ending in 13XX, it means that MMC 7.7 didn't install correctly.
The correct version number should end in 15XX (see the MMC 7.7 SVCD thread) -
Tried it but I already had atidvcr.dll 15xx. I got another idea from www.rade3d.com which solved the problem.
My winXP was installed on a FAT32 partition and I was capturing to a NTFS partition. I moved the default setup for the capture to the FAT32 partition and everything suddenly worked fine.
There was a bit of talk about this on the rage3d board. Keep the capure and system partition the same. Don't know why it should make a difference but now it works fine.
