    Windows 98 w/Media Player 7.1 works without a hitch playing avi's on every 98 machine I got.

    XP w/Media Player 8.. when playing avi's, I get audio but no video. Ive tried several xp machines and get the same result.

    Ive tried to install a ton of different codec packs ect and no go

    What am I missing to make everything work?

    Media Player 8 = sh^t, so far

    I read something that Windows Media 7.0 and above have been coded to refuse to play DIVX video


    Windows Media 6.4 however was written before DIVX and theirfore contains no such limitations.

    thx greg!...we'll it would appear to be true thus far....

    do you know if i can install 6.4...cause their seems to be no way to uninstall 8...they seem to have it integrated inta the system...
