  1. k guys i just downloaded oceans 11 dvdrip
i have a considerably slow computer and the video was skipping when i watched it in WMP, but i just thought it was because of the slow computer and thought nothing of it
first i converted the audio to wav, 48000hz stereo 16bit with virtualdub
then i went to convert it to VCD format, and when it was done, i opened the mpg file
there is audio, but no video at all. just black

    here are my specs:

    PII 300MHz
    256MB RAM
    tmpgenc/virtualdub

    any help is appreciated, thanks

  2. why did u convert an avi file to an mpg to play it on your pc?

anyway try gdivx as a player rather than wmp - it uses the least resources for an avi file to play

    48000hz ? I would have used 44.1 myself

    Anyway..

    Load TMPGENc

2b Select options > environmental settings
2c click the VFAPI plug-in tab
2d right click the "DirectDraw" and select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4

  4. isnt 48000hz better quality than 44.1?
also which of these is better under "Audio" in TMPGEnc settings...Stereo, Joint Stereo, or Dual Channel? im gettin kinda confused with that heh

and pcmx9, i watched the avi file, but i was converting to watch the vcd on my dvd player

thanks KingJohn, i will try that method

    Video-CD PAL (MPEG-1 352x288 25fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)

That is the fully compliant VCD specification (Notice the audio frequency)

So you don't want to save it out, to have it converted back !!

There is nothing you need to change in TMPGEnc, load in a template and start.

    Stereo is default
