  1. Hi, I am a newbie and I received a couple of Divx movies (at the back it says "visit us at www.divx.com so I don't think these are Circuit City Divx.) I downloaded the Divx Player 2.0 but I can't play the movie. The discs have four directories in each disc (ECCTRANA, ECCTRANB, VIDEO_TS, ZOOM) but the player could not find a video file to play. Windows Media Player says " "You have attempted to play a Divx disc in a DVD player not equipped with the Divx feature. The Divx feature is require to play this disc. Call 888-456-DIVX for info" (I did but could not get through.) Thanks for any help or advice.

I am desperate for help. THANKS!

  2. First.. Install the DivX codecs
go to www.divx.com or this Tools section and
download the 3.11 and 4.12 or 5 codecs and install.

  3. Hi alk, thanks for the reply. The Divx Video Bundle I installed supposedly includes the codecs and the player already. Is it supposed to auto-run when I put in the disc?

  4. well.. just many Divx autorun if who made the cd included an autorun
to call an specific player (included in the cd several times)

you can open the AVI file with your player, or Microsoft Multimedia
    Player also.

try with Global Dixv .. or MicroDVD Player
both are free ,are simple and works fine
go to Tools VCD,DIVX Players section at left.

    hang on....

I think you got ahold of an official Divx format disc...not the DIVX from hacked MS mpeg4 v3 or subsequent v4 and now v5 release by some DIVX group.

The company is no longer in existence and hasn't been for about a year if I remember right. Run a couple of searches (some on this sight too) and you'll pick up more specific information and perhaps a way to play them or at least rip the contents of them.

Perhaps someone else can help out who knows what I trying to say...Anyone?
    Have a good one,

Yes it is a circut city DIVX.

They were so well encrypted that a computer could not decode them without a hardware deocder.

If I am right a fella was talking about these divx discs recently so do a search.
