  1. Disney seems to have put extra protection on their DVD's ? When I go
to rip the .VOB's from Marry Poppins with smartripper it says that the .VOB's are still locked. Should I just play the movie a bit longer so it has a greater chance to find the encryption ?

Seems a shame as these are the DVD's that see the most use with
my little guys, and so have the greatest chance to get scratched and
    damaged.

  2. i've backed up all my disney movies with no problems. try another ripper like CLADDVDXP which is what i use and i've had no problems. if worse comes to worse, try using the option "rip full dvd" in CLADDVDXP.

  3. Disney seems to do wierd things to their DVDs - they hate "fair use" provisions & fight in court.

Our legit DVD of Atlantis had problems playing in a Philips DVD player because of some authouring "quirk" - I got a call from a nice rep about a month after reporting it who walked me through how to get to the menu but if they would just make standard discs we wouldn't have to worry.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

  4. Thanks for the input.
I will try the other ripper and see what happens
and will give smartripper another crack at it and hope
    it can digest Disney's programming.
Mary Poppins here I come. Otherwise I will be using words
other than superkalafragalisticxbealidocious when I have to
    buy another copy.
