I've been doing 2 pass vbr at 704 x 480 for some time now. I make them into 3 xsvcds because my player holds 3 discs. I have recently heard that Constant Quality is better than 2 pass vbr. Can anyone give me more info about how to use CQ? I have heard that it is hard to guess the file size, but is there any way to get a pretty good prediction? Thanks for any info you can give me.

Only by doing a few sample encodes. However, this is not as bad as it seems because the final encode takes approx. half the time. Check out www.svcd.cc for lots of useful advice. 8)
BTW CQ stands for "constant quantization". http://tangentsoft.net/video/mpeg/enc-modes.html
