No, nor is there likely to be, since avi has no agreed standards, unlike VCD, SVCD and DVD.

  5. Why didn't you say "Stand Alone Divx" or "Stand Alone MPEG-4" player?

There is not one today. Check other threads abou t this issue - someone is making a MPEG-4 decoder chip but who would put the silicon on a board is not so clear.

  6. RealMagic/Sigma Designs has just come up with a single chip MPEG-4/MP3/WMA decoder. I seem to have also heard someplace that someone is planning a DVD with Windows Media capability (I think)!

  8. Your best bet at this point is to wait and see what the modchips on the XBOX are going to do.

I would love it if they put divx on the mod chip.

The DivX capability of that player was Circuit City's failed movie rental/purchasing scheme. It has no relevance or compatibility with the DivX ;] format movies you can download from the net.

Despite what some other forum members seem to think...

    WRONG WRONG WRONG

This DivX it's an old format used for seeing a movie two or three times, then you needed to make a phone call to see the movie two or three times more after you paid for it, so it was more like a rental or pay per view movie as said on the page you provide.

So, it is nothing related to the actual DivX wich as everybody know is an avi or mpeg4 movie, they just have the same name.

    Saludos!

Just buy an RF video sender and transmit the signal from your PC to any TV in the house.

You can also buy a remote for some ATI cards ad most Video senders have IR loopback.

So for less than £300 you could buy an ATI card, remote control and video sender. Then you have everything you need to play PC movies on your TV.
