karaoke function on the apex 5131

hello all,

i got the apex 5131 as a gift and was trying out the karaoke function. it worked when i plugged the player to the tv to use the speakers on the tv as a test since i didn't have a receiver yet.

i now have a receiver (onkyo tx-sr500) and the karaoke function no longer works (the apex player was set on karaoke function).

any insight from any one??

disconnect your apex from your tv and hook it up to your receiver. normally, you connect your audio out from your apex to audio in of your receiver (video 1 or 2). i use s-video cable hooked up directly to my tv.
your karaoke function should be there since you just changed your connections. hope i am clear enough to you.

oh i figured it out. i'd used an optical connection and thought that was all that was needed...turned out i needed another set of red/white cable...

i connected that, set the dvd player to analogue..and it works.
