  1. I tried to make a svcd with sel. subtitles. I read almost all guides but none of them helped me out. I searched first if my dvd player supports svcd subs. I have a jvc th-a5r, which do play sel. substitles the site says.
So now I've tried almost everything to get subtitles on my movie without result. I only tried making them with winsubmux because I wanted svcd subtitles not cvd. I read that if you want to create cvd subt. you have to use I-Author. So to check if my dvd player supports svcd subs I burned the nrg sample with Nero. But no subtitles were shown. When I clicked subtitles on my remotecontrol I got a scrollmenu. There I saw that I could select up to 4 subtitles. But I couldn't see one of them. Also whehn I looked at the left corner it says cvd so how can that be? I tried to make svcd subt with winsubmux, not cvd. And why is there only a I-Author guide and not a winsubmux guide for creating sel.subtitles? I'm pretty getting stressed out at this, because I can't get it done. This is my last hope of getting it finished. Hope that somebody reads this and can help me.

Are you ripping a dvd? If you are, try dvd2svcd. That's the only program that worked for me as far as getting subtitles. I have a lot of problems with that too, and haven't found any other fix for it.

  3. No sorry for not explaining enough.
I've d.l. a svcd file, so I want to ad subs to it. But now I'm not sure if my dvd-player is compatible with it. Because when I check if it's compatible on this site it says it is. But when I play the sample on my player I can't see the subs. But in the menu of my player I see that I can choose 4 subs, but when I select one it's empty. I mean no name or anything.

  4. Now I'm really confused. I just tried this sample: SVCD NTSC Sample with SVCD selectable subtitles, 2 audio tracks (BIN/CUE image) and I finally got subs. So that means my dvd player indeed plays svcd subs. Then still is my question why can't I see my subs when I made it with winsubmux? Is it maybe because I burn it with nero or what? Because I burned the .cue sample with cdr-win and it works. And why says the menudisplay always cvd, even when I tried the sample of the svcd? The sample is made by CDimager, could that be a solution?
