I recently bought a Toshiba SD2800 but I am having problems playing CDRs with it.
It will jitter every 10-15 seconds on certain brands of CDR ( Memorex, Maxell - blue media ) but is ok on light blue media ( Cursor, OptiDisc )
I play the same blue discs on a friend's Pioneer 343 and they work perfectly... kind of disappointed that I bought the Toshiba
The Memorex and Maxell CDR's that I have are pretty old stock ( not even sure about the speed - probably 4x ) whereas the Cursor and OptiDisc are newer (24x). I also try SmartBuy ( light green ). It doesn't jitter as much as the blue disc but it still jitters every once in a while
I am buring my vcds using nero CD-copy at 4x.
Is it the color of the dye or the speed that really matters? Any help is greatly appreciated...

He he i have this problem too. and I do believe that the problem lies on the dye color, I had 2 type of memorex CD and one would play really smooth while the other skips every 10-15 sec like the above discription. The one that played smooth was an old version of Memorex with light dye color, i believe it's silver while the new one is blue. I can't find the old Memorex anywhere else so I guess I'll have to look around for another brand.

I just bought some Memorex CD-R's about a month back at Sam Goody. It was a clear cylinder 30 pack, but these disks are greenish in color. It could be that memorex switched their dye colors again or I got some older discs, I don't know. Maybe if you could find some of these discs somewhere they might work. Happy hunting! (hope they work, for I am ordering this same player tomorrow!)
