Did I buy a returned Item?

For some reason my Apex 1100W is able to fastfoward in MP3 mode, and another one from my friend (same model) isn't. And even the manual said that you can't do that. I'm kindda confuse right now and thinking that i got a return item that some one hacked in.

there are 2 different models of the 1100w the 1mb firmware one (which is hackable) and the 512k firmware (which isnt hackable, last i heard).. one of them may have the ablity to fast forward through mp3's, while the other does not. i'm not sure if mine can or not, but i do know i do have the 1mb firmware one, and i've got macro and region disabled *hugs apex his ad-1100w*.

how do I know which model I have? I need this because if I got the suck one then I'll go and return it on Sunday.
