Okay...I'm new at this so go easy on me...I just converted an MPG to an .m2v file so now what...Can I burn this to a CD and watch it on my DVD player?

Actually, MPG is the format you want if you are going to burn it as a VCD. You may need to re-encode the MPG thru a program like TMPGEnc to make it VCD/SVCD/XVCD compatible, depending on what your DVD player supports.
