  1. No matter what i do i can't burn a vcd with both a picture and sound. Mostly just sound. Out of the ten I burned one part of monters inc is the only thing that works. I burn it on a maxell cd-rw. but when i tried pt 2 it won't play a picture. Most of my file are by TMD or SMR except monsters inc, could that be it? Is it nero? Because I tried Verbatim CD-R's, Memorex CD-RW and CD-R's, and as mentioned before Maxell CD-RW's. Couldn't even play them in the TMP encoder until I loaded the Nimo codec pack. But still can't burn a playable VCD. And mt RCA DVD player has a big ass sticker saying it supports all VCD's. What? Please Advise.

  2. Do the VCD's you burned play via the CD-ROM drive on your computer? If so, your DVD player does not like home made CD's.

    dontae,

sounds kind of azinine, but R U putting these divX onto CDRs or CDRWs
and assuming your making a vcd, or R U using Nero's plugin to actually
encode to vcd?? ...and THEN play in your dvd player??
There are currently NO DVD player that will play divX files!!
period!! ...just in case that is what you're trying to do, ...burn a divX
straight to CDr and play on your dvd player.

You didn't say if you're encoding anything!! ...just that you can't get
any of your vcds to play.

    * what encoder R U using and how?
    * dvd player model/brand
    * CDrw or CDr brand, etc.

read the FAQ to your left. has pretty ALL the answers for you.

First, where did you get DivX? He never said any where that he was referring to a DivX file. I am sure he is reffering to the Telesync version, which is not a DivX but an MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 file, and that he wishs to burn back to a CD to make a Video CD or Super Video CD.

Dontae, I do not reccomanded using CD-RW's when making a VCD or SVCD. Only use CD-R's, as many DVD Players do not reconize that format of CD. Your DVD Player must support CD-RW's for that to work. You say it plays Video CDs, so does mine, but it sounds like your burning a "Super" Video CD, which many DVD Players do not support this, including mine. I have been going through the same thing the last few days. I can play Standard Video CDs but if I try to play a Super Video CD it just goes black and never plays the movie.

For information on how to convert a Super Video CD to a Video CD follow this link to learn how: http://www.vcdhelp.com/mpeg2tovcd.htm

You can also try a trick without converting, so you won't loose any quality that will trick your DVD Player into thinking it's a Video CD. Click this link to find out how: http://www.geocities.com/newestmoviesencode/dvdvcd

    I hope this helps.

  5. Please actually read peoples posts carefully.

It's seems pretty obvious to me that the original poster is converting DivX (or something similar) to VCD.

In fact, I don't believe that a SVCD --> VCD conversion is the matter here at all.

Also, CD-RW tends to actually be MORE compatible than CD-R in DVD players. For players that are designed to read CD-R/W media, they will read both just fine. For players that are not designed to read CD-R/W media, CD-RW tends to be the more compatible media.

In terms of the original poster's problem, it seems to me that your most likely issue is actually a CD media one. VCD compatibility is not the same as CD-R/W compatibility. Have you tried burning any audio CDs on the same media? Do they play properly/well?

Also, do your VCDs work on any other stand-alone player? Do they play properly on a software DVD player on a PC?

    Regards.

For one I did "read" the post from the original author.
I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with DivX (then again, it might). I know exactally what he is talking about. I have the same files he has, and they are not DivX, they are MPEG-2 files that have been ripped from Super Video CDs and put on the net for download so others can also put them on VCDs or SVCDs to view on there DVD Player. I also know the problem he has had, I have also had. Do not tell me that all SVCDs are going to work on all DVD Players, it's printed on your site saying so. And when I tried burning the same files he is reffering to I had the same problems, until I converted them using TMPGEnc and / or DVD2AVI.

If you read the post, and if you did your homework you would know that TMD and SMR are known rippers for this type of format. :P

  7. Newbies have to realize that it takes lots of time to learn to deal with digital video, and it takes lots of time for people to try to help out others. I sure don't mind helping some of the newbies with a few things, but it does seem that many newbies DO seem to start asking many questions without ever having read the "How To's" here. Nearly all the information any one would need to know is available simply by doing some reading from the "How To's'. Digital video is a bit intimidating, but thanks to this forum, it's less intimidating that it would be otherwise.

One.....It not NERO... I only use NERO and I've probly made 50 or 60 VCD's that all work great..
IF your VCD's dont work in home stand alone DVD player but do work in PC DVD or CDrom (open dat file with Win Media Player) drive then your home unit probly does not suport CDRs or CDRWs.
My buds Pioneer says it will play VCDs.....But it also says that it does not suport CDR...So as long as he only plays store bought VCD's (never seen one) he ok....Get my picture.
Two.... Ive never goten any SMR video to play any where.... Some one said that you need a patch (avail in tools sect) to play or open em....I just avoid them.

  9. Thanks for the help. but let me clear things up. I got the file from Kazaa. Yeah, I know edonkeys slower but better and centrophy movies are the best. Now it should be obvious, I read and searched all the forms. I encoded them with TMPGne or what ever it is. Fine program, it encodes faster than everything I tried except, LSX, which I cr@cked but theirs still a 2 minute limit on the output files length. I burned them using Nero's wizard for VCD's and several guides including this site's. I'm not sure if audio CD's work on my DVD player but I'll sure try that. I have part of Monsters Inc, which I spit into using the MPEG tools on TMPGne, on a Maxell CD-RW and it work's fine. My boy has been waiting two days to see the rest and Mr. Provider can't deliver. The second part shows no picture. I tried VCDeasy but it wouldn't except the format before or after running it threw the MPEG > MPEG fix, in VCDgear or after encoding. Trust me I search far and near, I seen many post with spiderman issues, and while theres similiarities, none worked or me. And yes I burned CD's on a regular basis. I'm over 5000 now. And only to VCD's am I a newbie. Computer's are what I do, Okay.

  10. Monsters Inc., should still be playing at the "Cinema Saver" or doller movies in your area. Shit, man, take your kid to watch it on the "big screen!"
