    when i open mpeg2 files with TMPG it just locks up, is thee something i am doing wrong

    Tmpgenc is built for opening AVIs and MPEG1s. You can get a MPEG2 plugin (I think in the tools section of this site) that will let Tmpgenc read MPEG2s but this is not advisable.

    Instead, use DVD2AVI to open MPEG2s. Save as a proj file (whateveryoucallit.d2v) and drag it onto Tmpgenc. Also, don't forget to drag the whateveryoucallit.mpa file into the audio input for Tmpgenc.
