Hi,
I am a newbie. I can't find the answer to this question. Can we put (author) the DVD format and burn it to the CDR/W disk, then play it on the DVD player?
This is my thinking...correct me if I am wrong. The CD or DVD disk is just a storage media. The DVD player only see what is in the disk. So, if the disk has DVD format, it should play in the DVD player in DVD format even though the disk is just a CDR/W disk.
Thanks.

What I believe you are asking about is mini DVD.
www.vcdhelp.com/minidvd.htmMay the force be with you. -
Aside from the different storage capacities - yes you can
Although certian DVD players will analyse the disc inserted, determine that it's a CD-R/RW disk temporarily disable parts of its playback functions. My Pioneer is one, it will not play DVD contents such as menu's and advanced functions even thougth it will play all modes of MPEG2 files nad SVCD, while the same burnt disc will quite cheerfully play in my Palsonic player.
Check the DVD player list for players that can play miniDVD
