  1. I wanted to know if it would be practical to rip all
of the .ifo's, .bck's and .vobs from a DVD. The Total
size of all the files may be over 4.7gig which fit on
    a dvd-r disk.

Then just re-encode each vob using Flask, DVD2AVI, or
any of the other methods, keep the same framesize but
reduce the Bitrate in created mpeg2 files to fit all Vobs on one dvd-r. The use dvd software to produce new vobs with lower bitrates. Then create the disk structure using all the original ifo's and new vobs. Seams like this would
maintain all the original menus extras and anything else on the original dvd, but just have a slightly reduce quality.

Maybe someone could even build Bitrate calculator to help.

I'm thinking of getting dvd-r drive in my new pc.

I figure sooner or later the price of blank dvd-r's are
going to make a method like this possible.

    Thanks
    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. I've ripped the movie VOBS and re authored the vobs and then burned the dvd on a DVD-R fine. Had problems with audio sync for some reason though.
