  1. I use CladDVD to rip my dvds to my HD. I end up with as most of you know a 4 to 5 gig VOB file....I choose the entire movie to rip instead of breaking it apart....

Can I take this file and compress it to fit on one cdr disk without loosing to much quality? or is it impossible?????

If so what steps should I follow to do this???

    Thanks

  2. I really depends on the length of the movie and what you consider to be acceptable quality. If you are talking about 'VCD' in the standard sense of the word...no it isn't possible. But, using SEFY's templates, I have fit 90 minutes of video footage onto one CD quite successfully. I doubt very seriously that it would play on a stand alone DVD player. But on my computer and on my laptop it looks great. You may also want to look into Divx as an option. I personally don't like the format that much but many people swear by it's quality. And you can fit two hours or more onto some divx discs....

    Another option:

there are also 90 and 99 minutes CDR's. So, in standard VCD format you can get 99 minutes on 1 CDR.
You just have to make sure stat your CD burner supports this format. This can be read in a standalone DVD player.

  7. Kwag has some nice TMPGenc templates at [link=http://www.kvcd.net]his site[/link] that seem to work miracles for getting 120 minutes (or more) on a 80 minute VCD, at pretty good quality.

Of course, your mileage may vary. Works well enough for me, however.
