  1. Hi,

I bought a child camera for my daughter, and it can shoot videos in AVI format.

It has an SD card on it, so you can easily add videos manually (provided you keep the right numbering), and play them with the camera.

I have a problem: I recovered a small 3-minute cartoon in MP4 and when I try to convert it to the same AVI format as a Video generated by the device, the generated video is unreadable, although support told me that normally there was no problem doing this kind of thing.

I tried with AviDemux and VLC, but nothing works, although the GSpot software tells me that the generated video has the right Video and Audio Codecs.

Could you tell me how you would do it, and with which tools please?

    Video MP4 source :
    https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/qonv69wp36s0baou0ztxf/Les-petites-princesses-du-monde.m...=b7a1ysgh&dl=0

AVI video generated by the camera :
    https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/16dh4bnlna4xlnj1rb420/MOVI0075.avi?rlkey=y1i6c3p7hzbciw...9l2lb&e=1&dl=0

Format genereted by the camera :
    Code:
    Motion JPEG (MJPG) - 70 Frms - 25244 kbps - 30 Pics/s - 30 Frames/s
    1920 x 1080
    PCM Audio - 16000 Hz - 32000 Bps / 256 kb/s (1 chnl - mono)YUV 4:2:0, 8 bits
PS : I tried to copy/paste an existing video located on the device + renumbering, and there it works perfectly, so the problem is not there.

Wow! I would investigate the options of the camera. Maybe via the internet, also. (If you haven't already done so.)
The codecs used by the camera for your sample of 4 seconds for the video and audio will always make for very large files.

A 14 MB mp4 has turned into a 280mb avi. If it works.
    Code:
    ffmpeg -i "Les petites princesses du monde.mp4" -vf scale=1920:1080 -c:v mjpeg -c:a pcm_s16le -b:a 256k -ac 1 -ar 16000 -f avi -y "Les petites princesses du monde-mjpeg.avi"
Variations on this command: 64k for audio, halve the scale and see if that plays - scale=960:540
    How about this?

  5. Hi,
I've tried your file, but unfortunately, it does not work (but each time, the camera sees that there is a new file)
Ex : when it shows 9/10 : the camera count 10 files, but the last that can be played is #9, if I click on next, it directly goes to 1/10.

Here is another AVI a little longer, created by the camera (if ever it could be useful):
    https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/7361mazadal6faykt5tjb/MOVI0077.avi?rlkey=hjiz7vgot91s4r...b9yimymbi&dl=0

For the camera Ref, I've just found this : HiMont Kids Camera Instant - KC01,
but did I not find any information about AVI format.

  6. I don't know if it useful, but when editing in Notepad, I can see the begining codes are a little different :

    Camera files show always "LISTà"
but converted files show "LIST" with a different character

  7. Your camera files are packed with Generplus AVIPack v3.
No idea how to replicate this.

Because you need this avipack software and this is proprietary as Dolby g.e.

  12. And do you think the support of the firm use it, or is it just integrated in the hardware ?

Is integrated in the hardware and is used while recording/encoding.

  15. hum, I see. I will ask to the support, maybe there will have an idea.

    Thank you
(I will back to you if there find a way to do)

Unfortunately, it does not work either

  17. Since support claims "no problem doing this kind of thing." , ask them how and what software

Hum, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't know how to do it, given that the first time, they "just" advised me to put the video in a specific resolution (1280*720)... but let's see...

  19. Hi,
Unfortunately, the suport has consulted the technical department, but they told me that the camera only supports playing pictures and music in the camera. Due to resolution and frame rate, there is no stable parameter information for the video, so they told me what I need is not supported.

Is this really possible to not be able to mimic that camera format ?

  21. with all the very good existing encoding softwares, i'm very susprised I can't mimic a particlar codec, since all the codec informations are given and known

Oh... I've found it, there were some little differences from the label you've mentionned :
    "Generalplug AviPackerV3"

Now, I could find something here :
    https://github.com/wythe-lin/ZTKVR/blob/master/application/avi_packer_src/src/AviPackerV3.c

Do you know I may exploit this source code to generate my AVI file ?
(even if I insall this "C" code on an IDE, I'm not sure to succeed in compiling/building it...)
