  1. I have read that the SVCD spec allows for a second audio channel much like on DVD's. I have a bitrate calculator that takes this 2nd channel into consideration when determing the correct encoding rate (TZ's AVI/(X)(S)VCD Bitrate Calc), but I haven't seen any encoding tools that can create one. TMPGEnc certainly doesn't seem to do it. Does anyone know anything about this feature, and if SVCD/DVD players can handle one if it is there?

Yes actually TMPGenc can do it.

Encode your video and 2 audio streams independantly. In TMPGenc go to mpeg tools/multiplex. Add all three streams and hit run. You can also use I-Author's multiplexor or bbmpeg to multiplex 2 audio streams and a video stream as well. Actually your best bet is to probably use bbmpeg due to compatiblity reasons with svcds in general.

I think pretty much any svcd compatible hardware dvd player can play dual audio svcds. Simply use the audio button on your remote to toggle between tracks. Unfortunately there are no software dvd players which can recognize the 2nd track so don't bother testing your SVCD on anything other than a hardware player.
